Coalition of State Horse Councils
The Coalition of State Horse Councils (CSHC) has been a long-standing committee of the American Horse Council (AHC), formed to advise the AHC on state and local issues, to involve state horse councils in the work of the AHC, to provide cohesive national leadership for state horse councils, a networking forum and center for information dissemination for horse councils in the various states, and to positively contribute to the work of the AHC in keeping with the best interests of the horse industry. The CSHC is an initiator and conduit for strong, effective grassroots activism on issues of importance to the larger horse community and to the well-being of the horse.
Like the other AHC committees, one mission of the CSHC is to make recommendations to the AHC regarding the position of the State Horse Councils (SHCs) on pending federal legislation/regulations and to notify the AHC of important federal issues affecting SHCs and their members. Like other AHC committees, the CSHC meets in Washington during the AHC annual meeting.
The CSHC also involves itself in other activities. Chief among them is a second meeting in the fall that has historically been focused on issues of specific importance to SHCs. Successes are discussed and advice offered to help the SHCs replicate any success in other states.
